Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get involved?

The best way is to pop in to one of our Thursday rehearsal sessions at Junction Goole and meet the group. We can introduce you to everyone and explain how it all works and you can stay and see how a rehearsal works.

We rehearse every Thursday for several months before a show. Just contact us for details of the next session to confirm we will be there and we aren't on a break between shows.

When do you rehearse?

When we have a show in production we rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm at Junction Goole.

In the week of the show we also have an extended session for get in and dress rehearsal normally the day before the first show. There may on occasion be extra sessions scheduled if required, but we do try to keep to just Thursday evenings other than show week.

Where do you rehearse?

We are normally in the upstairs community room in the Junction Goole, but occasionally in the downstairs room. If you aren't sure ask the staff there are always people there to direct you to us.

How old do you have to be to join?

We normally only accept members over the age of 14. This is for safeguarding reasons and the plays we normally do have few parts for younger actions.

I haven't acted before, can I still join?

Absolutely, we are always looking for new members. You don't have to be an experienced actor. We try to make sure everyone gets a part that fits their experience level and learn with us.

Do I have to live in Goole?

Not at all we have members who travel from all over the area. If you're happy to travel to Goole every week we are more than happy to have you.

What sort of shows do you do?

At the moment we are doing one show a year. Our most recent shows have been classic stories with a comedy twist. Such as The Three Musketeers and Dracula A Comedy of Terrors.

How much does it cost to join?

There is an annual membership fee to be in the group. This covers some of our rehearsal space hire and insurance. Our 2025 fee was £40 for adults and £20 for under 18's this may change slightly for 2026. This doesn't have to be paid immediately on the first session only once you are happy that you are going to stay with the group and commit to taking part in a show. Instalment options can be arranged.

When can I join?

We accept new members at any point during the year.

If we are part way through a rehearsal schedule for a show then we obviously can't guarantee a part in the current show. However we still encourage people to join anyway as there's always jobs to be done. We always need background characters, people to move props and set and help backstage. Joining part way through a rehearsal run can be a good way to get to know how a show is put together and get to know the group to be prepared to read for a part for the next show.

Can I send you my script?

Sorry we don't accept submissions of scripts. If you're a local writer and want to get involved with the group we would be more than happy to have you. However we only use published scripts of our selection or works by group members, we won't read any unsolicited scripts.

I'm interested in joining but nervous

Don't worry we accept people of any ability and experience. We will work with you to determine what you are comfortable doing. We allow people to have small parts and build confidence over time. There is something for everyone and we are a welcoming group.

I'd like to be involved but not act

That's great we are always looking for people to help. It takes a lot of people to put on a show not just the actors.

If you think you can help backstage, with props, costumes, sound, lighting, photography, videography, graphics design, advertising or anything else we'd be happy to hear from you.

When is your next show?

Details of our next show can be found on our Next Show page.

If there isn't a show listed we are likely preparing for the next show but haven't published details yet, contact us for more information.
